"I like driving in my car..."

Saturday, we went to view cars, to replace the now deceased pimp-mobile. En route, we took a wrong turn, and decided to U-turn. Very carefully, I negotiated the turn (you can't afford to make a mistake in the winter, as you shall definetly get stuck in the snow), and began to accelerate back to our intended destination.

SNAP! CLUNK! BANG!

The car stopped. Dead. Tried a lower gear. No movement. Park, then back to drive. Still nothing. Ooops!, I broke our only mode of transport, in the middle of nowhere. Literally, we were miles from the nearest building, and the outside temperature was -14C. A call to the guy who sold us the Plymouth, and we were set with a tow to Brandon, in about one and a half hours. Whilst pondering our next move, an elderly chap stopped and offered us a lift to the dealership. No questions, no hesitation, he just stopped and offered help. The generosity here never ceases to amaze us. Fortunately, the guy we were going to see was on his way to fetch us.

Rob of Brandon Autos, is quite a friendly guy, and explained that his business is more of a hobby, and how he knows how we felt as he has two kids of his own. George and Oliver were parked in his lounge, and off we went to view his cars. We had pre-determined what we would spend, and on the kind of vehicle we wanted. CJ went to look at what was on sale. Within seconds she had 'fallen for' our new car. It's something she had never really looked at, nor liked, but after a test drive, and very little persuasion, we are now the proud owners of a 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser Limited Edition.

It's fully loaded, and is top model for the year, with the added bonus of the optional sunroof. 2.4l engine and is surprisingly quick for an automatic. The rear seats can be folded, reconfigured in a variety of ways, or just simply removed. A few 'highway chips' on the bonnet will be taken care of in the summer, and, importantly, the boys love it.
Admittedly Carla spent a little more than we wanted, a little more than C$5,500, but we have a very nice car, that will serve for a few years, and I can drive it quite comfortably. I must add however, that even though we 'argue' over whose car it is, the documentation is in MY NAME, as is the insurance!!!! (hehehehehe, not such an old fool...)

I have liked these since they hit the UK shores in the early part of this century. This one is actually a very nice metallic blue, but the sun in these pics make it look a lot darker than it is. Great to drive, and in my opinion, not bad looking.

Now just need to get a Harley (and possibly a good divorce lawyer?)

speak soon
