"...where shuffling masses feel the CHILL..."

It's cold. Monday we had a province wide blizzard warning. Even though only a few inches of snow was predicted, we were hammered by winds of 60-80 km/h, making the blown snow feel as if you're being sand-blasted. Air temperature plummeted to -35C, with a wind chill factor of -43C. The Trans Canada Highway was closed from Headingley, Winnipeg to the Saskatchewan border. Over 300km! Schools were closed Tuesday due to the severe conditions, so George was quite happy. The petrol lines on the quad are frozen, and the battery is suffering a below par performance.
Now, there are only so many layers that you can physically wear at once, so after 'maxing' out on clothing, I walked around the out-buildings to check on any damage. After a few minutes, it became quite clear that man, nor beast should not be outside. My toes became quite painful, fingers and ears began to sting, even breathing was a little difficult. This is a hard lesson to learn as the sun was out and it was a beautiful day. Cold kills.
George is off school again today, due to the weather.
Last night wind chill dropped the temperature from -38C to an un-Godly -51C, and this is due to continue for the next few days. Sorry to carry on about the weather, but your freezer is cold at -5C, but -51C? Let's hope the summer makes up for it...

Last Friday, we went to the Humane Society, and as previously predicted, we're expecting the pitter patter of tiny feet again. An Alsation-cross bitch was picked out. Ecco (our name) had only been taken in that day (along with her brother), and needs to be 'medicated and treated'. It would have been quite easy to leave our names for another five dogs, including three gorgeous husky pups, but self-restraint and common sense won through. We also need to be vetted (no pun intended), and a home visit by one of the care workers etc. So within a few weeks, the poop-clean-up factor in our house will increase by a third!! NICE....

I have just enrolled on a 3 week business course in Brandon. Two seminars per week learning about new tax laws, etc. is not how I imagined I would be spending my time here, but needs must and hopefully this should push our plans along for a summer start up. Fingers crossed.

Super Bowl Final on Sunday, and eve though I shouldn't tempt fate, looks like a walk in the park for the Pats... Had a nice weekend of FA Cup footie, and without too many cupsets, most matches went as predicted. Villa played quite poorly to draw with Blackburn, but every point helps.

Well, am going to sort some pics out to post later... speak soon.

God Save the Queen

God Bless Canada
